Between March 2021 and July 2021 RDO partnered with the Central Institute for
Economic Management of Viet Nam to provide an ODR Pilot for Vietnamese SMEs.
The activity was part of promoting ODR in e-commerce to strengthen consumer
protection in Viet Nam and was funded by the Australian Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and managed by DT Global Australia.
Using the RDO Platform, around 60 Vietnamese business leaders were able to utilise RDO dispute
technology to support negotiation, mediation and arbitration processes to resolve disputes
around late delivery, payment issues, quality issues, missing items or poor service. SME users
were intuitively drawn to the features and capabilities of the RDO platform and were able to
focus on the resolution of the dispute.
A number of SME leaders provided feedback described the Platform as easy to use
and filling an important need in the SME eco-system. Director Duong Anh NGUYEN,
the Project overseer from the Central Institute for Economic Management of Viet Nam,
said "for the e-Commerce market to grow sustainably in Vietnam, it is essential for
businesses to provide confidence to their customers that grievances, complaints and
disputes will be resolved in a free, fair and fast manner using the latest digital technologies.
Platforms like RDO will help build confidence in the industry."
RDO's Head of Product, Venkateshwar Juturu said, "the Pilot and workshops
further validated the need to improve access to justice for SMEs.
Vietnamese SMEs will be undertaking increased online trading activity
and it is important they have recourse to platforms to give confidence if things go wrong."
